Bard-YIVO Institute for East European <br />Jewish History and Culture
The YIVO Institute and Bard College are pleased to announce the creation of the Institute for East European Jewish History and Culture. This new Institute, the first of its kind in the U.S., will present an integrated program of study in the culture, history, language, and literature of East European Jews. Courses are designed to attract undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and members of the general public. The Institute is also planning an M.A. degree program in East European Jewish Studies.

Winter Intersession

YIVO will inaugurate this new educational initiative with a special program taking place from January 10 to January 26, 2012. The program will consist of nine mini-courses, taught by leading academics. Students may enroll in as many as three courses. Students have the option of receiving credit from Bard College. MORE >>

Opening Lecture

January 9, 2012
6:30PM at YIVO

YIVO will launch the new program with a lecture by Cecile Kuznitz on the history of the YIVO Institute. Dr. Kuznitz is Associate Professor of Jewish History and Director of Jewish Studies at Bard College, and is currently writing the definitive history of YIVO. The lecture will be open to enrolled students and the general public.

Summer Program

The Uriel Weinreich Program in Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture offers peerless instruction in the Yiddish language and an in-depth exploration of the literature and culture of East European/American Jewry.
